Stock Markets

Stocks recovered from their lows but still closed down quite a bit. What is interesting is that stocks did not sell of a lot more? Is not the possibility of war enough to spook investors into selling? Or is it that investors believe that what is happening will have little impact on the U.S.? I think the later is closer to the truth. The U.S. is not going to do much with Ukraine. It might enact some sanctions or send some weapons, but it is not going to commit troops in any way. So The U.S. is going to treat Ukraine like Syria or Egypt. It will not pull a Libya since that would entail troops of some kind. Chalk one up for Putin and Russia. They are playing this perfectly. I wonder how far they will go? Will they press the advantage they have or will they stop with just Crimea? In any event, the U.S. will not act and looks weaker by the day. How soon till we see another rogue nation provoke an international incident? Keep an eye on China and North Korea. They see Russia getting away with something, so why not give it a go?

What do you think?
