Chromebook - Google drive and Microsoft Office

Google was brilliant in that it made Google Drive work across all platforms. Unfortunately, Microsoft is way behind the curve. It is just now going to release an Office App for the iPad. Is that not just a bit too late? Well, there will be people who will download it and use it because, well, it is "Office". But since the iPad world has lived without it this long, I don't see sales being stellar. The App also looks like it is going to be complicated to use all of it's functions. That does not sell well in the world of Apple. Finally, how does Microsoft compete against free? I think this is the advantage of Chromebook. Most of everything is free. How do you compete with that if your business model depends on selling software?

What do you think?
