The Economy - Employment Report

The employment report was basically positive. About 288,000 jobs were added in April (which was above expectations) and the unemployment rate fell to 6.3% (which was lower than expected). So we have basically gained back all the jobs we lost in the great recession. I have mixed feelings about this report. First, I am pleased that we added a good number of jobs and that the unemployment rate has fallen. I am still concerned about the quality of jobs that were created and I am also concerned about the labor participation rate. This report is good news, but we still have way too many problems that are going to have a negative effect on our economy. There is still an economic storm coming and we are in no way prepared for it.

What do you think?
