Observations - Community College

I spent the day getting registered at my local community college. After 20 years of teaching I can tell what kind of students I am around by the way they dress and the way the speak. The reality of community college is that many of the students are not of the highest caliber. This is not a bad thing. What it means this that anyone can go to college. All you have to do is show up and do the work. I have a BA, a MS, and most of a PhD. If I can earn a degree and more, anyone can! It's not being smart that earns a degree. It is being persistent. Go to class, do the work, pass the test, write the paper. That's how you earn a degree. Hopefully the students that I attend class with get it.

What do you think?
