News - Daily Summary

No major developments in Ukraine besides the occasional skirmish and bloodshed between government troops and separatists. Everyone is watching and waiting to see what happens next. In Turkey the mine explosion death toll mounts. There are also protests against the government for it's role in what happen (whatever that might or might not be is unclear). There were more arrests in Venezuela as protests increased today. There were no other major developments across the world today.

In the U.S. wildfires blaze across San Diego County in California. I live just north of San Diego County and the smoke is quite thick outside tonight. My son's university (CSU San Marcos) was evacuated because of a nearby fire. Fortunately he finished all his finals yesterday. With winds forecast for tomorrow and the brush being extremely dry because of the drought, it is going to be a long night tonight and a long day tomorrow.

Stocks were down today. Gold and oil were up. There were no other major developments in the U.S. today except for the usual murder, mayhem, corruption, trivialities, and tragedies.

It was another day in the calm before the storm and here in Southern California a hot and smoky one.

What do you think?
