News - Daily Summary

No major developments in Ukraine except that Russian troops have not left the border area as reported by the Kremlin. No major developments in Vietnam as China finishes evacuating Chinese nationals. Sanctions on Venezuela were approved by a Senate panel. In Syria the death toll from the civil war looks to be about 160,000. Many thousands are refugees in Lebanon, which can't afford them. There were no other major developments in the middle east. No major development with North Korea. Tensions are still high between China and Vietnam, Japan, and the Philippines.

In the U.S. stocks were down on disappointing earnings from a few retailers. Gold was flat but oil was higher. There were no other major developments in the U.S. except for the usual murders, mayhem, corruption, and tragedies. Things have been quite calm in the U.S. over the past several days.

It was another day in the calm before the storm.

What do you think?
