News - Daily Summary

In Ukraine separatists are still going through with a referendum that Russia has asked them to postpone. So was the call to postpone just a ploy? Also, Gazprom is demanding payment in advance for any future natural gas shipments to Ukraine. Ukraine is refusing to make the payment because of the higher price Gazprom is asking for. So tensions are still high and nothing has been resolved. Has Russia pulled back it's troops yet? In Venezuela police broke up several protester camps and arrested over 200 protesters. One policeman was killed in the process of raiding the camps. Anti government protests broke out in Thailand. China and Vietnam ares still at odds over an oil rig in disputed waters. So are Japan and China over disputed islands. No new developments with North Korea. The civil war in Syria continues. There were also no new developments across the middle east.

In the U.S. the S&P and NASDAQ were down and the DOW was up. Gold and oil were up and the Dollar gained against the Euro. The House of Representatives voted to create a select committee to investigate what happened in Benghazi, Libya (will it matter?). There were no other major developments other than the usual murder, mayhem, corruption and trivialities.

It was another day in the calm before the storm.

What do you think?
