I paid a visit to my local library today. What surprised me the most was that they are still relevant. You would think that with the Internet they would fade into obscurity, but that does not seem to be the case. I found my local library to be busy and with plenty of people around. I found a nice quiet spot where I could access the high-speed Wi-Fi network, and I spent some time writing, surfing the Internet, and I also wandering around the books. There was also a nice selection of newspapers and magazines to look through. So public libraries are far from being extinct. I still think they serve a purpose, and I plan to visit one as often as I can.
What do you think?
